HC Deb 24 February 1899 vol 67 c454
MR. JAMESON (Clare, W.)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, whether he is aware that considerable arrears of poor rate accrued upon the Casey Estate, Quilty, county Clare (the holdings on which are nearly all under £4 valuation) while that property was in the Court of Chancery, and still remain unpaid, notwithstanding numerous applications for payment to the Receiver General and the District Receiver by the Kilrusli guardians through their solicitor; and whether he will cause the attention of the Chancery Court to be directed to the matter?

MR. GERALD BALFOUR

I am informed by the Registrar of the Land Judge's Court that the estate referred to has been out of the courts since July, 1896. I have no information that the facts are as stated in the first paragraph, and in any case the matter is not one in which the Executive Government could interfere.
