HC Deb 20 February 1899 vol 66 c1433
MR. WARNER

I beg to ask the Under-Secretary of State for War on what principle Militia battalions are selected to attend manœuvres; and why some have hardly ever been and others are selected every two or three years?

MR. WYNDHAM

The selection of Militia battalions for the manœuvres depends almost entirely on the nature of the employment of the Militiamen. When the men's employment is likely to be affected by their being called out at the period fixed for manœuvres the battalions concerned are, as a rule, exempted.
