HC Deb 20 February 1899 vol 66 c1457
MR. WEIR

I beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade if he can state what progress has been made with the construction of the lighthouse on the Flannen Islands; and, will he say whether there is any prospect of the work being completed before the end of the year?

THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD OF AGRICULTURE (for Mr. RITCHIE)

My right honourable Friend is informed by the Commissioners of Northern Lighthouses that the tower of Flannen Islands lighthouse and the shore dwellings have been completed, and that the construction of the lantern and lighting apparatus is being proceeded with. It is doubtful, however, whether the light can be completed before the end of the year. There is still much work to be done upon the rock, the execution of which very much depends upon the weather.
