HC Deb 17 February 1899 vol 66 c1267
GENERAL RUSSELL

I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for War whether the cavalry now quartered in the United Kingdom is up to its establishment; and, if not, how many men are deficient, and in what regiments?

MR. WYNDHAM

At this moment we have 24 men in excess of the establishment in the United Kingdom. It is fair to state that a draft of 267 will sail on the 24th of this month. But, since that will be the last draft of the trooping season, the inflow of recruits will, no doubt, shortly fill up the establishment.
