HC Deb 17 February 1899 vol 66 c1271
MR. WARNER

I beg to ask the President of the Board of Agriculture whether he will state when he is likely to be able to remove the muzzling order from the Lichfield Union, as no case of rabies has taken place for many years, either in the district nor within ten miles of it?

THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD OF AGRICULTURE

I am sorry that it is not possible for me as yet to name a time for the withdrawal of the Muzzling Order now in force in the' Lichfield Union. The area in which that Union is comprised is one in which rabies has been more or less prevalent for many years past, and it would be unsafe to relax the Order in particular portions of the area, regard being had to the conditions under which the disease is spread.
