HC Deb 17 February 1899 vol 66 c1277
MR. JAMES O'CONNOR (Wicklow, W.)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether, having regard to the fact that applications to have fair rents fixed upon holdings situate in Donard and Kilbaylet, county Wicklow, are in the hands of the Land Commission since the midsummer and autumn of 1897, he can give the tenants any hope that their cases will be heard at an early date?

MR. GERALD BALFOUR

As already stated by me, there are only four cases not yet listed for hearing from the district mentioned. The Land Commissioners can give no undertaking as to the probable date of hearing of these cases.

MR. J. O'CONNOR

Will it be in the present year?

MR. GERALD BALFOUR

I am afraid I can give the honourable Member no information beyond that already supplied.
