HC Deb 16 February 1899 vol 66 cc1112-3
MR. MAURICE HEALY (Cork)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether it could be arranged, in preparing for the Land Judge the next return of estates to which section 40 of the Land Law (Ireland) Act, 1896, applies, that the county in which each estate is situate could be stated in the return?

MR. GERALD BALFOUR

The return in the form in which it has heretofore been prepared is in strict accordance with the requirements of the Statutory Rules dated 23rd January, 1897, in relation to proceedings under the 40th section of the Act of 1896. I am informed by the Land Judge that the return could no doubt be supplemented, as suggested, but he regrets he cannot undertake to alter the form of return already published. Mr. Justice Ross points out that the staff of his court is but barely sufficient to meet the demands which the transaction of the ordinary public business imposes on it.
