§ MR. MAURICE HEALYI beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland if he will state in how many cases included in the returns under the rules made pursuant to Section 40 of the Land Law (Ireland) Act, 1896, and already considered by the Land Judge, he has refused to issue a report 858 under the section or postponed doing so; in how many cases reports have been issued on the application of the parties in cases which have not yet been reached in their regular order on the returns; and whether the supplemental first return has been gone through by the Judge as well as the original first return?
§ MR. GERALD BALFOURI am informed that, in order to obtain the information desired in the first and second paragraphs, it would be necessary to examine the order made on every application for a request since the passing of the Act, and that, having regard to the pressure of public business, the examination could not be carried out within less than a fortnight. I do not know whether, under the circumstances, the honourable Member will press for the information, but, if he does, it could, no doubt, be supplied. As regards the third paragraph, the Land Judge has gone through the cases comprised in the supplemental as well as the original return.
