§ MR. LOWLESI beg to ask the Secretary of State for India whether he has examined the memorial of the Municipal Commissioners of Rangoon, presented to His Excellency the Viceroy of India on the 14th November last; and what steps have been taken to give effect to the prayer of the memorialists?
§ THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR INDIAI have seen no memorial such as is described in the honourable Member's Question. I have seen an account of a deputation from the Rangoon Municipality to the Viceroy in December last on the subject of the Rangoon town lands, and the income therefrom. The Viceroy assured the deputation that their representations would receive full consideration from the Government of India. I have not yet heard how far it has been found possible to meet the views of the deputation.
