HC Deb 10 February 1899 vol 66 c491
MR. T. M. HEALY (Louth, N.)

I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for War, is it intended to permanently remove the annual training of the Louth Militia from Dundalk; and, if so, what was the object of the recent expenditure on the new rifle range; and is he aware that both the men themselves and the public locally are strong against the change to Belfast?

THE UNDER SECRETARY OF STATE FOR WAR (Mr. G. WYNDHAM,) Dover

The Louth Militia will be trained this year at Dundalk, and will be trained there in future at least once in every three years. In the other two years it will, when possible, be trained in a Brigade Camp, in pursuance of a rule laid down for all Militia regiments. This could not be done at Dundalk.
