HC Deb 10 February 1899 vol 66 c513
MR. FIELD

I beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade, whether, as a consequence of the Hooley revelations, any measures will be instituted by prosecution or legislation by the Government to obtain restitution to the shareholders in the various companies so manipulated of the large sums of money bestowed for the purposes of purchasing directors?

THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD OF TRADE

As I have already informed the honourable Member, the legislative proposals of Her Majesty's Government have been made in another place. The other matters referred to in the Question are engaging the attention of the Court and of the officers charged by the Statute with the administration of the bankrupt's estate.
