HC Deb 10 February 1899 vol 66 c517
MR. GILHOOLY (Cork, Co. West)

I beg to ask the Secretary to the Admiralty, whether, in view of the fact that the Board of Guardians of the Bantry Union have at the request of the Captain of H.M.S. "Collingwood" expended £700 to give that vessel an improved supply of water, he will cause her to return to Bantry Bay and remain permanently there.

THE FIRST LORD OP THE ADMIRALTY

I regret I cannot give the assurance desired. The "Collingwood," like all Her Majesty's ships, must go where she is wanted and when she is wanted. The Admiralty have agreed to make an increased contribution to meet the expense of an improved supply of water at Bantry.
