HC Deb 09 February 1899 vol 66 cc320-1
MR. CROMBIE (Kincardineshire)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether the Departmental Committee appointed to consider the alleged grievance of the compulsion of workmen by employers to join benefit clubs, or cease their membership of friendly societies, has reported; and, when its report will be laid upon the Table of the House.

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE HOME DEPARTMENT (Sir M. WHITE RIDLEY,) Lanes, Blackpool

The Committee has not yet reported, but I understand that their draft report is now in the printers' hands. Until it is finally settled and has been submitted to me I cannot answer the honourable Member's second Question.
