§ THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE COLONIESNo, Sir; the Cape Government did not ask Her Majesty's Government for any increase in the military forces in South Africa, but the intention to increase the garrison was communicated to them, and they were willing to provide, temporarily, barrack accommodation.
