HC Deb 21 April 1899 vol 70 cc207-8
MR. STEADMAN

I beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury, as representing the Postmaster-General, if in future alterations of postmen's times of attendance an effort will be made to fix regular hours, and thus avoid the risk of increased late attendances such as is involved in the arrangements now in vogue for the 6th and 10th sections at the East Central District Office?

THE FIRST COMMISSIONER OF WORKS (for Mr. HANBURY)

It is already the practice in revising the attendance of postmen to fix regular hours of duty as far as practicable, but the varying conditions of the work sometimes makes it impossible, as in the case of the arrangements to which the honourable Member refers.
