HC Deb 20 April 1899 vol 70 c37
MR. GALLOWAY (Manchester, S.W.)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether the Government intend to introduce a Bill this Session dealing with the question of the shop clubs upon the lines of the Report of the Departmental Committee appointed to inquire into the subject; and, if not, whether the Government will afford an opportunity for the passing of the Truck Acts Amendment Bill, provided that Bill is so amended as to embody all the recommendations of the Departmental Committee?

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOE THE HOME DEPARTMENT (Sir M. WHITE RIDLEY, Lancs.,) Blackpool

I am afraid that there does not appear to be any prospect of there being time for the introduction of such a Measure. If my honourable Friend or any private Member should introduce a Bill on the lines of the recommendations of the Committee, the Government would be prepared to consider it favourably, but I am not in a position to promise any facilities.
