HC Deb 23 May 1898 vol 58 cc381-2
MR. FLAVIN (Kerry, N.)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, with reference to the Peel estate in county Kerry, whether he is aware that on 13th December last Judge Ross issued a request to the Land Commission under section 40 of the Irish Land Act, 1896, for an inspection, with the view to a sale, of the landlord's interest to the tenants on the estate; whether he is aware that no such inspection has yet been made; whether he can explain the cause of delay; and if he can say about what date the inspection is likely to be made?

MR. GERALD BALFOUR

The request for an inspection in this case was lodged in the Land Commission on the 1st April of this year, and the matter is now in the hands of the inspector, who will carry out the inspection before the end of the present month.
