HC Deb 23 May 1898 vol 58 cc335-6
MR. JOHNSTON (Belfast)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he can state the number of addresses presented to Her Majesty the Queen, on the occasion of her Diamond Jubilee, by various Grand Lodges, representing half a million of Orangemen; and if there would be any objection to lay copies of these Addresses upon the Table of the House?

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE HOME DEPARTMENT

A number of Addresses were received from Orange lodges, but I am not aware how many members they represented. The Addresses were in due course submitted to the Queen; and it is not possible for me, nor, I think, would it be usual, to lay copies on the Table of the House.
