HC Deb 23 May 1898 vol 58 c362
MR. PATRICK O'BRIEN

I beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury, as representing the Postmaster General, whether he can explain the cause of the delay in establishing a mail-car service between Kilkenny and Urlingford, which was decided upon last October; whether he is aware that great inconvenience is caused to the inhabitants of Urlingford and district by reason of the fact that their letters lie in the Kilkenny office from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. every day, and reach them too late to reply sama day; and whether he will see that the direct mail-car communication promised is started at once?

MR. HANBURY

A mail-car service between Kilkenny and Urlingford for both night and day mails was established many years ago. The question which was under consideration last October was that of improving the hours of the car, with the view of remedying the inconvenience to which the honourable Member refers. Great difficulty has been found in effecting this improvement.
