HC Deb 23 May 1898 vol 58 c374
MR. WEIR

I beg to ask the Lord Advocate whether he is aware that Dr. John Grant, the medical officer of health for the parishes of Abernethy and Duthill, is quoted in the Report of the medical officer of health for Inverness-shire for 1897, as having expressed the opinion that a supply of pure water should be supplied amongst other places to the village of Causer, in the Badenoch district of Inverness-shire; and, in view of the fact that Dr. Grant further declares that the sanitary condition of the district cannot be regarded as satisfactory in the absence of that supply, will he state what steps the local authorities propose to take in order to meet the requirements of the medical officer of health?

MR. GRAHAM MURRAY

I am informed by the Local Government Board that it is the case that the local medical officer of health for Abernethy and Duthill has expressed the opinion alluded to in the first part of the question. They have no knowledge of the further opinion referred to in the second part of the question, and I am not able to say what steps the local authority proposes to take in the matter.
