HC Deb 17 May 1898 vol 57 c1532
MR. BEACH (Hants, Andover)

I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for War whether steps will be taken to remedy the serious losses sustained by Major-General R. B. Chichester from having been compulsorily retired after upwards of 40 years' full pay service under the age clause of the Warrant of 1881?

THE UNDER SECRETARY OF STATE FOR WAR (Mr. W. ST. JOHN BRODRICK,) Surrey, Guildford

The case of Major-General R. B. Chichester has been fully and repeatedly considered, and it is held that he has been fully compensated for any loss he incurred by reason of compulsory retirement.

MR. BEACH

I beg to give notice that I shall call attention to this matter on the Estimates.
