HC Deb 16 May 1898 vol 57 c1374
MR. BUCHANAN (Aberdeenshire, E.)

I beg to ask the Lord Advocate whether, in view of the dissatisfaction that exists at the present system of audit of parish council accounts in Scotland, the Government will establish an audit department under the Local Government Board, the expenses of which shall be paid, as in England, out of Imperial funds?

MR. GRAHAM MURRAY

As the honourable Member is aware, the matter has been under the consideration of the Government, but the final determination, on the subject must be postponed, as the state of public business precludes the hope of dealing effectively therewith this Session.
