HC Deb 13 May 1898 vol 57 c1221
MAJOR RASCH

I beg to ask the President of the Local Government Board whether his attention has been called to the case of a farmer selling milk treated with boracic acid, and fined at the Marylebone Police Court on Wednesday; and if he will state on what grounds the English producer is punished for selling that which the foreigner places on the home market without any restriction or liability?

THE PRESIDENT OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT BOARD (Mr. H. CHAPLIN,) Lincolnshire, Sleaford

I have seen the report of the case referred to. The offence, as I understand, in that case, was of having given a false warranty in respect of milk. With regard to the English producer, the provisions of the law as regards the sale of milk produced in this country and treated with boracic acid apply equally to the sale of imported milk treated in the same way.
