HC Deb 12 May 1898 vol 57 cc1065-6
MR. ROCHE (Galway, E.)

I beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury whether, as the inhabitants in the district of the Portumna and Parsonstown Railway are unanimous in their desire that the line should be sold to anyone who would engage to re-open it, he will now direct that that line should be sold to Mr. Baldwin?

MR. HANBURY

I am not aware that there is unanimity in the district in favour of the acceptance of Mr. Baldwin's offer. On the contrary, I understand that protests have been made by some of those who are locally interested against any step in that direction pending further negotiations on their part with the railway company.
