MR. DILLON

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether an agreement has been arrived at with the Government of the South African Republic as to the amount of the indemnity to be paid in respect of the Jameson raid; and, if so, what is the amount agreed on, and by whom is it to be paid?

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE COLONIES

No, Sir, I have not had any answer from the Government of the South African Republic to the questions raised in my dispatch of 10th April, 1897, printed in the Blue Book, C. 8,721.
