HC Deb 10 May 1898 vol 57 c956

Order of the Day for adjourned Debate on Second Reading read.

DR. TANNER

I object.

MR. W. O. CLOUGH (Portsmouth)

I hope the honourable Member will withdraw his objection.

MR. J. SAMUEL (Stockton)

I believe several honourable Members who are interested in this Bill are not now present.

MR. MACARTNEY

I would also appeal to the honourable Member not to press his objection. This is a purely administrative Bill, and the subject-matter is not in the least controversial.

MR. J. SAMUEL

I think the honourable Gentleman cannot be aware that there are several honourable Members who wish to be heard on this Bill, and they are not here.

MR. CLOUGH

I think the honourable Member for Stockton must be referring to a Motion which stands on the Paper in my name dealing with the Greenwich Hospital Pension Fund. This Bill does not touch that at all.

MR. J. SAMUEL

If that is so, I have nothing further to say, but the Bill could just as well be taken some other night.

DR. TANNER

I object.

Second Reading deferred.

House adjourned at 12.10.
