HC Deb 05 May 1898 vol 57 cc412-3
MR. DALY (Monaghan, S.)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether he can give the name of the Vice-President of the Local Government Board, Ireland; whether, according to statute, it is necessary that two members of the Local Government Board, Ireland, should sign the minutes of meetings; and if he can give the names of the members of the Local Government Board who sign the minutes at present?

MR. GERALD BALFOUR

I am not yet in a position to give the information desired in the first paragraph. The official minute book recording the meet- ings and proceedings of the Local Government Board is signed by the members present at each meeting, but there is no legal obligation on the board to keep or sign this record.

MR. T. M. HEALY

Will the announcement of the new appointment be made before the Local Government Bill is finished?

MR. GERALD BALFOUR

Yes, Sir.
