HC Deb 03 May 1898 vol 57 c186
MR. FIELD

I beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury whether he can state which of his colleagues is responsible to answer questions respecting the Science and Art Department in Dublin and primary and technical education in Ireland; and whether he can state if it is the intention of the Government to place those educational departments under Irish control with a similar system of connection and local management recently introduced with success in Scotland?

THE FIRST LORD OF THE TREASURY

The Royal College of Science, Dublin, is at present a branch of the Department of Science and Art of the Committee of Council on Education. Questions relating to that Department are answered by the Vice-President of the Committee. The Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant will reply to all other questions connected with Irish education. The subject of technical education in Ireland has been engaging the attention of the Government, who hope to be able to deal with it.
