HC Deb 02 May 1898 vol 57 c34
MR. BROOKFIELD (Sussex, Rye)

I beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury whether he is now in a position to give the House any information as to the intentions of the Government with regard to the garrison and fortifications of Wei-hai-Wei?

THE FIRST LORD OF THE TREASURY

Until we have been for some time in occupation of the port in question, I do not think we can come to any determination on the matter referred to by my honourable Friend.
