HC Deb 02 May 1898 vol 57 c30
MR. COLLERY (Sligo, N.)

I beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that the Waterford and Limerick Railway Company refuse to issue passenger tickets at the Collsoy station of the Collsoy and Claremorris line to and from Sligo; and notwithstanding that the county of Sligo guaranteed £80,000 for the construction of this line they are still debarred from using it between these two stations; and whether he will inquire into the cause of this inconvenience to the public, and procure a remedy?

THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD OF TRADE

I communicated with the Waterford and Limerick Company with reference to the honourable Member's Question, which, I am informed, does not quite accurately state the facts. It seems, however that certain difficulties which existed between the Waterford and Limerick and the Midland Great Western as to the issue of these passenger tickets have been surmounted, and I gather that they may now be issued.

MR. FIELD

Seeing that other companies are compelled to issue passenger tickets to all stations, cannot this company be made to comply with the law?

THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD OF TRADE

I must ask for notice of that Question?
