HC Deb 25 March 1898 vol 55 c899
LORD CHARLES BERESFORD (York)

I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for War whether he will inform the House as to the progress made with the experiments of the new quick-firing gun; whether these experiments are satisfactory; and whether he will inform the House about the earliest date that the new 15 batteries promised will be put in hand?

THE UNDER SECRETARY OF STATE FOR WAR (Mr. W. ST. JOHN BRODRICK,) Surrey, Guildford

The Secretary of State is fully alive to the importance of this Question, and all expedition is being used; but my noble Friend will not, I hope, ask me to make public the exact progress which has been made.
