ADMIRAL FIELDI beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade whether any communications have, as suggested by the Select Committee of the House of Commons appointed to inquire into the administration of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, passed between the Board of Trade and the Committee of Management of the Institution and the Committee of Lloyd's relative to property salvage services rendered by the crews of the Institution's lifeboats; and, if so, whether he can state the result of such communications?
§ THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD OF TRADEYes, Sir. In consequence of the suggestion made by the Select Committee, conferences have been held at the Board of Trade between representatives of the Board, the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, and the Committee of Lloyd's. At the invitation of the Board of Trade the President of the Admiralty Division of the High Court of Justice was also kind enough to attend these conferences. After having fully considered the representations made at these Conferences, the Board of Trade have addressed a letter to the Committee of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, stating that they find themselves unable to make any suggestion to the Committee.
