HC Deb 04 March 1898 vol 54 c608
SIR CHARLES CAMERON

I beg to ask the Lord Advocate whether the Scotch Office has yet, in accordance with his promise, made any representations to the Treasury with a view of obtaining for Scotland such a contribution from the Imperial Exchequer as will place her on a par with Ireland in respect of the grant of £700,000 a year proposed in the Irish Local Government Bill; and, if so, whether he is in a position to state the result?

THE LORD ADVOCATE (Mr. A. GRAHAM MURRAY,) Buteshire

The Secretary for Scotland is in communication with the Treasury on the subject, but until the progress of the Irish Bill is further advanced no decision in regard to the matter can be arrived at.
