FLAVINI beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland if he is aware that great inconvenience is caused in the shipping of cattle, 274 horses, etc., for want of suitable accommodation, at Salleen Pier, County Kerry; whether inquiries have been made from the harbour master in connection with the very small improvements necessary; and whether the Board of Works has instituted an inquiry; if so, what is the result?
§ MR. GERALD BALFOUR.: Inquiry has been made by the Board of Works as to the accommodation at this pier, and although, judging from the small amount received for dues on cattle, horses, etc., it would not appear that any great inconvenience has been caused by reason of the alleged inadequate accommodation, yet it is believed that if the accommodation were improved the trade in cattle would increase. The matter will be further considered.
