§ THE SECRETARY TO THE ADMIRALTY (Mr. W. E. MACARTNEY,) Antrim, S.The Salamander is being fitted with water-tube boilers of the Mumford type. As the work is not yet complete, the actual cost cannot be given, but the estimated cost is about £17,000. The old boilers were completed early in 1890, and were in use till June, 1896; they were of the locomotive type.
