DALZIEL (Kirkcaldy)I beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury whether the Government are in possession of information confirming the report that arrangements have been made by the Spanish Government to coal the Spanish squadron through the agents of an English firm at Port Said; and whether, in accordance with the neutrality proclamation, precautions are being taken that only sufficient coal to enable the fleet to stream to the nearest Spanish port will be supplied?
§ THE FIRST LORD OF THE TREASURYAs regards the first paragraph of the honourable Gentleman's Question, no information to the effect he refers to has been received by the Government. As regards the second paragraph of the Question, every precaution to preserve neutrality will be observed by the Egyptian Government in Egyptian ports as would be observed by the British Government in British ports.
