CARVELL WILLIAMS (Notts, Mansfield)I beg to ask the Vice-President of the Committee of Council on Education (1) whether the Education Department received before Easter, for its approval, plans for the erection of a British school at Pokesdown; and (2) whether, having regard to the pressing educational necessities of the locality, the decision of the Department will be made known without further delay?
§ SIR J. GORSTThe answer to the first paragraph is in the affirmative. The plans have been returned to the promoters of the school for alterations, as the site is not large enough for the numbers proposed.
