HC Deb 17 June 1898 vol 59 cc568-9
SIR ALBERT ROLLIT (Islington, S.)

I beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade whether he is prepared to move or support a Motion for a Select Committee to inquire into and report upon the exercise of their statutory and other powers as to scales and rates of price to consumers, and as to dividend and otherwise, by the Gas Light and Coke Company (Limited), and as to the expediency of the principles upon which such powers are based, and especially as to the injustice of the differential treatment of North and South London by the company?

THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD OF TRADE

As I stated in the course of the Debate on the Gas Light and Coke Company's Bill, it will be the duty of the Government to consider any proposal for inquiry that may be made in the House.
