§ SIR W. HOULDSWORTH (Manchester, N.W.)I beg to ask the Secretary of State for India if Members of Parliament can be allowed to obtain copies of the evidence given before the Indian Currency Committee, when printed, for the use of the members of the Committee, in the same way as the evidence given before the Liquor Licensing Laws Commission can be obtained?
THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOF INDIA (Lord G.) HAMILTON, Middlesex, EalingIn my letter of the 29th April to the Chairman of the Indian Currency Committee, which has been published, I said that—
In accordance with the precedent of 1892–93, its proceedings, so long as it is in Session, will for obvious reasons not be open to the public, though they will be published when its labours are over, with the evidence and information it has collected.I do not think that it would be desirable to alter this decision.
