HC Deb 09 June 1898 vol 58 cc1158-9
MR. RANKIN (Herefordshire, Leominster)

I beg to ask the President of the Local Government Board whether, in view of the legislation of last year (60 and 61 Vic, c. 29), by which the time of repayment of loans contracted by local poor law authorities was extended to a term not exceeding 60 years, the Government have any intention of conferring similar advantages on county councils and other local authorities?

THE PRESIDENT OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT BOARD (Mr. H. CHAPLIN, Lincolnshire, Sleaford)

I do not find that any representations have been received, either from county councils or other local authorities, showing that there is any general desire for an extension of the period for the repayment of loans contracted by them. If any such representations are made they will receive my consideration.
