HC Deb 07 June 1898 vol 58 cc868-9
MR. LEUTY (Leeds, E.)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for India what were the circumstances attending the dearth at Barrackpur, on 30th April, of Dr. Sircar, an eminent Native medical practitioner?

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOB INDIA

I have little to add to the answer which I gave on this subject on the 12th of May. There can be no doubt that the death of Dr. Sircar was caused by violence, and the local magistrates have inquired into the matter, and committed three men for trial on the charge of culpable homicide in connection with this outrage.
