HC Deb 29 July 1898 vol 63 cc438-9
MR. ALLHUSEN (Salisbury)

I beg to ask the Financial Secretary to the War Office whether the wells sunk on Salisbury Plain are yielding a supply of water sufficient for the daily needs of the troops during the forthcoming manœuvres; and whether any arrangements have been made to enable the public to obtain refreshments at certain convenient spots; and, if so, will he issue a notice in the Press to that effect?

THE FINANCIAL SECRETARY TO THE WAR OFFICE (Mr. J. POWELL WILLIAMS, Birmingham, S.)

The water supply is reported to be now satisfactory. The supply of refreshments for persons not engaged in the manœuvres must be left to private enterprise.
