HC Deb 12 July 1898 vol 61 c663
MR. HAYDEN (Roscommon, S.)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether he is aware that the instructions issued to the Mullingar Board of Guardians for the use of the spraying machines bought through the Local Government Board are printed in French; and whether he will consider the advisability of supplying printed copies of a translation of those instructions for the convenience of the poorer classes for whom they are intended?

MR. GERALD BALFOUR

The Local Government Board are not responsible for the issue of the instructions in French. It appears that some circulars in French were sent out by the makers of the spraying machines, who reside in France. Instructions in English have already been issued by the Local Government Board.
