HC Deb 11 July 1898 vol 61 c485
MR. LEWIS

I beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury if he is aware that it is now more than 12 months since the evidence before the Indian Expenditure Commission was finally closed, and that no Draft Report has yet been submitted by the chairman to the members of the Commission; and is there any prospect of the Report being issued in time for the Budget discussion in the Session of 1899?

THE FIRST LORD OF THE TREASURY

The chairman of the Commission, Lord Welby, informs me that he has not yet been able to complete the Draft Report, but that he intends to submit to the Commission the first part in a few days, and hopes to complete it before the Recess.
