HC Deb 11 July 1898 vol 61 cc471-2
DR. FARQUHARSON (Aberdeenshire, W.)

I beg to ask the President of the Local Government Board if he has had his attention called to a discrepancy of £70,000 between the estimate of the architect for the Brook Hospital and the final cost of this building; and if he will consent to supply the House with a Return showing the actual cost of each of the hospitals of the Metropolitan Hospital Asylum Board in comparison with the original estimate for the same?

THE PRESIDENT OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT BOARD (Mr. H. CHAPLIN,) Lincolnshire, Sleaford

There is a large discrepancy, amounting to upwards of £60,000, between the estimate of the architect, and the cost of the hospital buildings, and the subject is receiving my attention. If the honourable Member gives notice of a Motion for a Return I will consider the Question.
