HC Deb 07 July 1898 vol 61 c153
MR. C. MCARTHUR (Liverpool, Exchange)

I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether answers have yet been received to the proposals for the better lighting of the Red Sea which he recently stated had been made to the maritime Powers?

MR. CURZON

Answers have been received, but the matter is still under discussion with certain of the Powers; and Her Majesty's Government are at the present moment awaiting a reply to a communication which was addressed by them to the French Government on the subject in April last.
