HC Deb 05 July 1898 vol 60 c1109
MR. LODER (Brighton)

I beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury whether the Government have submitted a scheme to the Registrar of Friendly Societies for contracting out of the Compensation Act; and, if so, whether he can lay its terms, when approved, upon the Table of the House?

THE FINANCIAL SECRETARY TO THE TREASURY (Mr. R. W. HANBURY,) Preston

A scheme prepared at the Treasury is now under the consideration of the Registrar of Friendly Societies, and it will be his duty, before issuing his certificate, under the 3rd section, to ascertain the views of the workmen affected by it. Until this has been done it would be premature to lay the terms of the scheme upon the Table of the House.
