HC Deb 25 February 1898 vol 54 cc17-8
SIR HENRY HOWORTH (Salford, South)

I beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury whether it is the intention of the Government at an early date to present to the House or to publish the Report of the Departmental Committee on the promotion and pay of the staff of the British Museum which was completed in the autumn of 1897; and, if not, whether he can state to the House the substance of the recommendations of the Committee?

MR. HANBURY

This Report is a Departmental one, and it is not intended to publish it. The recommendations of the Committee are at present under the consideration of the Treasury. They relate mainly to the numbers and salaries of the staff, and do not suggest changes in the general organisation or constitution of the Museum.
