HC Deb 15 February 1898 vol 53 c631
MR. DAVID THOMAS (Merthyr Tydvil)

I beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury if he can state the total cost to the Treasury of the recent Royal Commission on Welsh Agriculture; and whether there has been any considerable demand for the Report of the Commission by agriculturists in Wales and Monmouthshire?

THE SECRETARY TO THE TREASURY (Mr. R. W. HANBURY,) Preston

I assume that the hon. Member refers to the late Royal Commission on Land in Wales and Monmouthshire. The total cost of that Commission is estimated to have amounted to £13,640. The demand both for the complete report and for the evidence as issued in daily parts has been considerable; but I have no means of ascertaining to what extent the copies sold have been purchased by agriculturists in Wales and Monmouthshire.
