GRIFFITH (Anglesey)I beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury whether any part of Morocco has been claimed by France or Germany as being 14 specially under their influence or control and whether Her Majesty's Government has been asked to recognise a French or German sphere of influence within the dominions of the Sultan of Morocco?
§ THE FIRST LORD OF THE TREASURYI have not had notice of this Question, and therefore I have not had time to make inquiries. No report such as the honourable Gentleman refers to has reached my ears.
MR. GRIFFITHI beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury whether the consent of the Sultan of Morocco is necessary before British subjects can undertake trading or other operations in the dominions of Morocco; and whether the like restriction is in force against French and German subjects?
§ THE FIRST LORD OF THE TREASURYI had notice of that Question, and I made inquiries yesterday. There is no special prohibition of British subjects, as distinguished from the subjects of other nationalities.
